Why a ruler instead of a measuring tape? A flexible measuring tape is great for body measurements and curves, but a rigid ruler enables you to take accurate measurements when working with hems, seam allowances, and button placements. It also allows you to make straight lines with precision, which is useful for pattern tracing and alterations.
Usage Instructions:
To mark a 1/2" seam allowance, lay the ruler on its wide side with markings facing up. Mark with pencil along outside edge.
To mark a 1/4" seam allowance, lay ruler on its narrow side with markings facing out. Mark with pencil along outside edge.
